Painted with acrylic on A3 cartridge paper. This one is about 10 years old-I need to get around to doing some up-to-date pics of her ^^'
One of my best pics of my OC Yurei, from Okami : Bushido [link]
Yurei is perhaps my fave of all my OC's, or the one most closest to my heart at least. In part she is my little homage to my fave character Hino Rei-her look, her name, her spirtual sense are all born from my passion for Rei. But Yurei carries many of her own qualities, her essence if you will is in many ways my idea of the perfect woman.
Yurei is a shinto Priestess living alone in a temple bound by her ancestory-one which carries many dark and unknown memories of a legacy so long thought forgotten. This fact is perhaps born most earnest in the Katana that she weilds-it almost seems to bear it's own spiritual essence thought to have belonged to a weilder centuries buried. Her own psychic and spirtual powers also seem to have a much deeper and foreboding origin-all of which is unknown to Yurei herslef, since a paralysing fear warns her from looking beyond the veil. Perhaps this is why her gifts manifest in sometimes violent and uncontrolable bursts, her reluctance to face their origin leaving there potential un-reached or un-trained.
A quiet, strong willed girl-who for the most part manages to hide any unnerving doubts about herself or her abilities to become a sweet, kind hearted person. Not particularly outgoing, she is still up for a little fun. Just like she can shed her mystic and darker side, her shinto robes can also give way to a slightly gothic and stylish sense of self. Yurei is also quite adorably unaware of her attractiveness to boys ^^
She first meets the Okami (and her lovelorn admirer Taeda) When she is attacked by a band of demon Kage-but she is far from an innocent victim swept up in unfortunate circumstance-for the lines of blood connect many, and corrupt equal more.
A sincere loathing anguish, a sorrowful repentance and a sickening discontentment come together by chance to pull Yurei back to how it all began-for her and many others.
Ah, I remember this one ^_^ classic finally made it to the public view. Its very very rare that I ever see something online/on screeen that simply can't do justice or meet the standards of its real life original.
Yeah, it's annoying too. Especially when I'm trying to show peeps what I do. You see the Kamui/Kotori piece? I had to photograph that 'cos the scanner killed it :/
